Terms of Service

Effective date 26 August 2026 · Last updated 26 August 2026. This document creates a contract, and it needs more scrutiny than the others.

01

Who these terms are between

These terms are an agreement between you and the individual operating Haven Courses ("Haven", "we", "us"), operator of havencourses.com. There is no registered company entity at this time.

By creating an account you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use Haven.

LAWYER REVIEW REQUIRED
With no registered entity, the contract is with an individual, who takes on personal liability. Separately: if that individual is under 18, contracts they enter may be voidable, which affects the enforceability of this entire document.
02

Who may use Haven

You may use Haven if you are 13 or older.

If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must review and accept these terms on your behalf before you use Haven. In most places a person under 18 cannot be held to a contract, so your guardian is the contracting party — not you. Your guardian is responsible for your use of Haven.

Haven is currently invite-only. You need a valid invitation code to create an account. Codes are single-use and tied to a role.

Both teachers and students may be under 18. Being under 18 does not prevent anyone from teaching on Haven. It changes which protections apply.
03

Your account

Keep your password secure and your details accurate. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us at support@havencourses.com if you think someone else has access.

One person, one account. Do not share, sell or transfer your account.

04

Terms for teachers

You must complete identity verification before publishing a course or messaging students. Verification is handled by Persona and is described in our Privacy Policy.

You are an independent contractor, not an employee, partner or agent of Haven. You set your own course content, schedule and teaching approach. Haven does not supervise your teaching, and you are responsible for your own taxes.

You own the courses and materials you create, and grant Haven a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display and deliver your content to enrolled students.
That licence lasts while your content is on Haven, plus a reasonable period afterwards so we can serve students who already enrolled.
You confirm your content is yours to share and does not infringe anyone’s rights.
We may decline to publish, unpublish or remove a course, and suspend or close an account, where content or conduct breaches these terms or safety requires it. Where we can, we tell you why.
Teachers under 18 may teach and earn on Haven. A guardian must accept these terms on your behalf, and payouts are made to a verified guardian, not to you directly. Earnings are recorded to your account and released once a guardian link is verified.
LAWYER REVIEW REQUIRED
Worker classification is fact-dependent and varies by state. Some states apply an ABC test. Review whether Haven’s degree of control over teachers supports this characterisation.
05

Terms for students

Enrol only in courses you intend to take. Course materials are for your personal learning — do not copy, redistribute or resell a teacher’s content.

Progress tracking and completion are informational. Haven does not award accredited qualifications or academic credit.

06

Payments

Paid courses are available on Haven. Teachers set their own price, and prices are shown in US dollars with any applicable tax added at checkout.

Payments are processed by EShipX acting as merchant of record. Haven does not receive or store your card number.

Refunds — request a full refund within 14 days of enrolling if you have completed less than 30% of the course. Outside that window, requests are reviewed case by case.
If a teacher cancels a course or fails to deliver what was advertised, you get a full refund regardless of progress.
Teacher payouts are released on a regular schedule to a verified account, and chargebacks or refunds are deducted from the next payout.
Teachers under 18 are paid out to a verified guardian, never directly.
Teachers are responsible for their own taxes. Haven does not withhold tax on your behalf.
07

Communication on Haven

Haven Chat is available between a verified teacher and a student enrolled in one of that teacher’s courses. It exists for coursework.

Messages are automatically scanned for phone numbers, email addresses and external links, and flagged for moderator review. Messages are retained after deletion. Guardians of users under 18 may request their child’s conversation history.

Do not use Haven Chat to move a conversation off the platform, particularly with a user under 18.
08

Things you must not do

Impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your identity, age or qualifications
Harass, bully, threaten or abuse anyone
Post sexual content, or any content that sexualises a minor
Attempt to arrange contact with a minor outside Haven
Share another user’s personal information
Upload malware, or attempt to bypass Haven’s security or access controls
Scrape the platform or access it by automated means
Use Haven for anything unlawful
Breaches involving the safety of a minor result in immediate termination and, where appropriate, a report to law enforcement.
09

Reporting

Report a user, message or course using the reporting tools in the product, or email support@havencourses.com. If you believe someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.

10

Suspension and termination

You may close your account at any time from your settings.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, poses a risk to other users, or has been inactive for an extended period. We may act immediately without notice where there is a safety risk.

Some information survives account closure — safety records, and anything we must keep by law.

11

Availability

Haven is provided as-is. We do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend or discontinue features.

Haven is a marketplace. We verify teacher identity; we do not verify teaching quality, qualifications or accuracy of course content, and we are not a party to the arrangement between a teacher and a student.

12

Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Haven is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for loss of data, profit or opportunity.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is capped at the greater of the total amount you paid Haven in the 12 months before the claim, or US$100.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

13

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Bengaluru, India.

LAWYER REVIEW REQUIRED
Haven’s operator is in India and its users are in the United States, so confirm this venue holds up against US consumer-protection rules. No arbitration clause is included — arbitration clauses are frequently unenforceable against minors, and minors are on both sides of Haven.
14

Changes to these terms

We will post changes here and update the date above. For material changes we will notify you before they take effect. Continuing to use Haven after that means you accept them.
